Hmm. I thought this sounded familiar. It’s the same plot as another book by HC called I Will Find You that came out only two years ago.

This is my least favorite in this series so far. I realize that it’s a product of its time, but it’s very transphobic. I also don’t like the negative descriptions about “Big Cindy.”

The narrator (Michael Healy) is an American doing a British accent. He’s probably 75% there, but the mispronounced words are jarring. I don’t understand why they do this.
I gather there are other editions that may have a British narrator but this is the one my library had.

Book club

I’m a third of the way through and now realize this is the second book. I have the first book as a TBR but didn’t check before I started this one. Forging ahead.

I’m listening to the audiobook and I really don’t like the reader. Will persevere because I’m close. I recommend not getting the audiobook if you’re planning to read this.

Anachronism re “tennis bracelet” - that term was not in use until the late 70s.
This book was interesting because I was 9 in 1969 and my father was in Vietnam then as well. I was living in England with my grandparents and I did see the moon landing.
