This book is written in a way that makes it very hard for me to read without falling asleep. Something about author's style? I dunno, it's like they want to cram in every single historically documented quote or fact about each moment and the result is a muddle.

My wife found this in a pile at the thrift store. I've read lots of his other stuff, so why not?

Holy crap the way this is written is crazy....just...wow. I'm pretty sure I've read another of this dude's books before and it didn't seem so...sloppy? Unedited? I dunno, it's wild.

OK this is way too long of a diversion into backstory for something that doesn't matter for the main story...so I'm going to assume all this matters in the long run.

This book is too short, and in 302 pages I will be bummed.

I don't know who any of these fuckers are, but they all smell Malazan! (And so I quite like them so far...)

Halfway through and I'm enjoying it, but skimming a bit more than I did in the previous one - some of the descriptions run a bit long. Also the weirdness is less joyfully crazy shocking and darker...

As with the other books, I'm still a bit surprised that Adolin may be the most interesting character... at least whatever he has going on with healing Maya is promising.
