timeline jump/alternate reality/time travel vibes are always hard for me because i feel like there’s no right way to do it and make it make sense all the way- knowing that, i like where this book is heading, knowing THAT, there was a lot at the beginning ? idk i’ll finish tomorrow and see how this wraps up

ok starting to get less blinded by my adoration and picking up some critiques: a lot of telling and not a lot of showing. for example, earlier on the author talked about how the 4 main characters were best friends and how close they had become but i didn’t FEEL it. also getting a little tired of all the etimology, ik it’s sort of world building but if i wanted to know about words i’d watch call me by your name

not quite sure why it needs to be set in the 1830s when the writing and dialogue and even setting are overtly modern… but who cares. this is my first fantasy so im lit to see if i fw the genre!
