Just finished Burn. LOVED IT.

The writing on the sentence level is fine, but the story overall is cringingly bad so far. Character motivations are superimposed by the author to deliver a captive fantasy so far from realistic that I'm wincing and rolling my eyes every two or three sentences. I'll probably stick it out though because all the reviews said there's a twist at the end and I'm curious.

Meh. There's a lot of info dump and I'm doing a lot of skimming, but I haven't put it down yet.

Dubcon sex with the god of war is all kinds of unreasonably hot. Remind me not to read Aleks in public again; it's really quite uncomfortable ;-p

Really picked up, thank goodness. Eager to know what the deal is with the sick kitties, aw.

Eeeeeeh. Same lack of focus in the prose as with Infected: Prey. I'm 16% in and nothing's even happened yet; it's still all setup and back-story.

Second story MUCH less depressing than the first, but that's still not saying much . . .

First novella was v. good but depressing as hell. Completely and relentlessly miserable. Quick, someone bring me a puppy :(

The whole back third of this book made me forget about the middle third dragging. Oh boys, you're making me cry--stop being idiots and snuggle, for god's sake!

There are a lot of things about this I'm really enjoying, but it's starting to drag for me. I keep waiting for something to happen.

Just finished Infected. End was much better than the beginning. On to Prey now.

Pretty good so far, but she goes off on a lot of tangents that kill the pace, and I really don't need paragraph-long descriptions of every minor character to cross the page.

Such deliciously careful attention to the everyday details of life that ground the reader. Poor Micah just burned the roof of his mouth in his haste to gulp some yummy soup, aw :)

The writing's really not great, but I'm definitely intrigued.

Best last line ever? Quite possibly. Review to come when I've digested.
