For all that I think of Asimov as an idea guy, Foundation has a whole lot more acting on the ideas than I remembered from my last read.

The plot is interesting and I can see how Piper became a name in Sci Fi. There are just a lot of bits where it becomes apparent that this was written in the late 50s or early 60s.

Mom and sister can't be trusted to act logically because that's just not how women folk work but Sylvie is *different* and that makes mom not like her.

This book is seriously Star Trek Voyager but with uplifted animals. Cat Janeway is awesome!
