Agamemnon was a powerful play. Clytemnestra and Aegisthus are villainous.

After reading Faust (see my review) and watching many translator struggle with that translation the translation in this version of Virgil's masterpiece is just delightful. And the story is just so moving!

Sad and very moving portion of The Village, from "or will you deem them amply paid in health" to "they taste a final woe and then they rest."

I'm enjoying this book more than any other book I've read in a year. It's got everything...feminism, atheism, rowing, a genius child, a genius DOG, chemistry, cooking. Elizabeth is a terrific character, I will steal what another reviewer wow and say I also wish she wasn't fictional.

This book has it all. Chemistry and a little physics and cooking and mortality and feminism and tragedy and a super smart dog that can think and I'm only 30% finished I can't believe it.

This story is really engaging. I am really enjoying it

What a book!!

I'm now reading the dynamiter.

I am loving this book, really. It's the second and only book since to kill a mockingbird which of course is the most wonderful novel.

Can't put this book down. Reading early mornings and late evenings. Netflix? HBO? Haven't watched a thing since starting this book.

this is why I have read a dozen or so biographies. was in search of just such an extraordinary person and such a brilliantly written book. reading the first dozen Pages or so I was just honest could hardly believe that this wasn't science fiction or total fantasy

New Orleans chapter

the author of this book grew up in our church also wrote "amazing grace" which is about william wilberforce who ended slavery in the british empire. that book was made into a movie a few years ago. Well worth seeing.

I am reading this because my oldest daughter loved it so much. Reading what my kids read gives me a good way to connect with them. Want to fight, tough guy!?

The first chapter of "Book 9: 1812" is the most logical indictment of war I have read. Search for that in the free Kindle book and see if you don't agree.
