This is literally Caraval adult version!!! Even the characters feel like a more matured version of Caraval characters!! Blackwell's rizz like Julian??? Ophelia being the responsible big sis like Scarlett???? Genevieve as the run away sister who went into the game like Tella????? And please, Jasper's top hat like Legend??? Dang

All is good and well until Chapter 30. A turn-off, yikes.

The only thing I hate here is how this revolves around Legend and Tella (again) as if I haven't had enough of this push and pull in the last two books. Anyways, I have been screaming over Julian and Scarlett for the past hour, I miss these two so much.

Y'all. I'm soooo close to dnf-ing this. How??? What??? Where is the 5-star coming from because this is just fking messy 😭 and for a book that is set in an older period, it sure doesn't feel like it AT ALL.

I feel like I know what is going on... but still waiting for it to surprise me.. istg if this ends up like Fallen, it would be so underwhelming. People have said this is sooo different and unique but probably only ppl who have not read Fallen because it's literally like this.

The student-teacher thingy here makes me wanna throw up. Nate gives me the ick...

I feel like it's a book that's written for a certain type of reader, which is not me. It's slow-paced but very poetic. It's not a bad book at all. I just don't have the kind of patience it needs....

DNF @ 50%. I tried! Oh, how I tried. Half-way in and I'm still not impressed with anyone or even the murder plot. I thought this dude Thomas Cresswell will see me through but even that character couldn't completely pull me in. I also did not particularly enjoy Audrey Rose... it's just not an enjoyable read for me overall. I also realized this was a whole series with 4 main books... i just can't do it to myself.

I really don't know how Carissa does it but my god, she just writes her characters' relationship so SO good. From strangers to getting to know each other, to trusting each other... she knows how to fking slow burn ❤️‍🔥

I was like, this Noah guy seems decent enough, he could be a big brother but then he started getting excited about her staying in the winter and gurl... i would've fled so fast 😭 SAVE TIERNAN 😭😭😭
