First half was good (although there was a little bit much of the old-HR toxic, predatory masculinity), I'm afraid of the conflict that's coming though. THere are a lot of deception secrets at play and I'm not sure I like the power imbalance

Just started, and it's a "proper" (=clean) romance, so not perfectly my preference, but I'm not feeling the characters from the very beginning. We'll see if further reading will persuade me otherwise

Better than the first one. The FMC is so much less whiny, and I'm loving the shopping mall as a setting for the "nest". It's still quite a clumsy written book, with some REALLY FUCKING HOT dragon porn. I mean, the first SEXY sexy times took up an hour of the 13+hrs of the audiobook and it was an outstanding feat of erotica

Not really feeling this one. Nothing exceptional, I know all the tropes already and the book is moving quite robotically through them. Idk if I'm going to finish it

Great one, unfortunately I'm reading it in parts, with some major breaks in between so I'm not really getting the full impact of the book. It will be a 4-STAR read though. I like the emotional struggles, especially of the MMC

I love the tropes and adore the way they are being executed so far. Both characters clearly have enough in common to make this eventually work long term, bit also enough differences and obstacles (internal and external) to make the journey interesting and satisfying. Also, the banter is just on another level!! Highly recommend this one, don’t see my opinion changing here much

Well… This is a definite who-needs-original-plot-when-you-can-have-a-recycled-plot-with-multiple-sex-scenes. It’s honestly one of the least original things I’ve ever read – a typical young-college-girl + older-rich-possessive-dominant-guy-in-a-suit romance. I don’t think even the excellent audiobook is helping much. I can ACTUALLY FEEL my brain contents seeping out …still bravely reading on though… ;)

Kinda stiff exposition and a lot of clumsy info-dumps. The plot feels amazing in theory but in practice… it’s a bit too clinically written(?). Honestly I’m a bit confused. The pair seems to have all the potential, but I’m not invested in their growing attraction whatsoever. We’ll see how this goes. It might be that I will not connect more with the writing of Mary Jo Putney.

It's a delight! My first book by this author (I believe?) and a really really positive surprise. AMAZING care-taking scenes, so suckers of that – BEWARE! 😍

Delightful beginning! That was a total random choice but I already laughed out loud a couple of times, and this seems fairly fresh! I hope it stays this way

Very "will-they—won't-they" so far but I'm not complaining. Definitely lacks the excitement and adrenaline of the gladiatorial fights

This book is a wild ride. Sex scenes are really hot and just descriptive enough, but the rest of the story… Oh boy. TL Swan's vision of Manhattan elite is quite laughable. I lost a few braincells for sure, but at the same time, I'm having fun haha

So far so good! Predictable but very cute and readable, also, good romantic connections and variety. I predict a new light-read favourite

third act conflict, predictable but well executed. we’ll see how it goes

Worse than the previous instalment in the series, less chemistry, A LOT of dubious consent and behaviour coded in our world as toxic masculinity, parading as SEXY and being the exact opposite. I will probably finish the book, by my heart is not in it AT ALL…

So far so good. I like the gender-switch – usually it’s the hero who is a cold-on the outside, shun from society rake slowly being “tamed/rescued” by possessing a heart-of-gold, people-pleaser heroine, not the other way round.

The turntables is refreshing, but unfortunately the structure of the book suffers. I’ll have more thoughts later on – so far it’s around a 3.5-starts-worthy read

oh thank god this one is so much better than the first book in the series. I loooooved the first on-page encounter between the two main characters. And it didn’t really go downhill from there, just understandably slowed and gave way to the delicious tension and conflicts. :3

A Mistletoe Kiss by Eloisa James – 2/5 stars

Pretty lame hero, some romantic scenes felt kinda “rapey” to me; with the heroine being too overwhelmed by her desire to be able to fully consent.
Also, the marriage proposal came out of nowhere and I was all in with the heroine being sceptic and very suspicious of the sudden turn of events.

In general, about the story: I liked the concept but NOT its execution

Good, not too drawn out slowburn. Good impossible/forbidden aspect of the romance. Slightly non-believable world building

pretty surprising, that pure smut can be that enjoyable. And it's actually not JUST smut, there is a plot and it's neither predictable nor cheese, nor stupid. I'm liking it a lot so far
