Wish that it hadn’t been 10 years since reading the first book. I’m not really remembering Mischa at all of the original, and it is referenced enough in the second to make reading it without those memories more difficult—but not impossible.

I also wish that I’d not waited as long because it’s been a pretty good read so far. Lots of building up to this point, but I’m confident it will pay off.

Okay, it’s a multiverse story, and outside of the heroine, everyone else is either a victim or a varying shade of villain.

Also, just hoping that he hasn’t given too much away up front. I want some surprises, and I’m just a little worried that the cats are at least partially out of their bags.

Part 1 finished — love RJB’s style, and I’m glad I started reading again with this pick. The first bit has been mostly character and location introduction, but with a dose of mystery and a pinch of horror at the end. So far, so good. Outside of main character, Mona, there’s no real certainty on who the real villains, victims, or supporting heroes may be.

I'm predicting a Willy Wonka and the Choc factory sort of ending here. Wade is poor, like Charlie, the founder of OASIS was a reclusive eccentri, like Willy, and we've got the evil internet company representing Slugworth.

Main character seems like a jerk so far. I'm kind of rooting for him to be killed.
