Are there this is supposed to be the 1st book in a new series, it is reading like the second book. Characters refer to previous investigations, replacing police for incompetence, and other events that seem to have incurred in the recent past. It makes me feel like I have missed the book in the series.

1st stupid Decision. Instead of telling the police about the coffee she decides to investigate on her own. After saying how much she envies her cousin's looks, she talks about how dry and over colored her hair is.

On the umpteenth reread I remain amazed at the number of scifi writers who did not anticipate small computers, personal computers, the internet, or wireless and cell technology. They predicted so much else. Heinlein's sexism is particularly bothersome.

To believe in something not yet proved and to underwrite it with our lives; it is the only way we can leave our future open. -- Lillian Smith (1944-1966) was a writer, social critic and southern liberal who openly embraced controversial positions and was a unafraid to criticize segregation and gender equality at a time when such actions virtually guaranteed social ostracism.
