Christine Edison is on page 260 of 450 of The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals
I keep hearing about this book in other books I'm reading, especially Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. Definitely food for thought about choosing our food wisely. Not a fast read, but a good one.

Christine Edison is on page 250 of 369 of The Martian
What a great survival tale! The touches of humor really help me get through the grim scenario of being stranded on Mars. That said, the cover really doesn't do the story justice, and I hope they change it for the paperback. I would not have picked it up if not for an online review.

Christine Edison is on page 100 of 304 of Smile at Strangers: And Other Lessons in the Art of Living Fearlessly
The author takes karate as a way of shedding her insecurities and learning to live fearlessly. Part of her training involves meditating on traditional sayings called koans, and she shares her insights. I enjoyed the sense of humor, the author’s humility about her own journey, and hearing about the dojo where she trains and about her mentor, Sensei Suzanne.

Christine Edison is on page 150 of 336 of Gorgeous
This story of Pygmalion told by a teenager from a trailer park has so many funny lines. Although it could be seen as just a fluffy piece of chick lit, I sense a stronger message about beauty being used for good rather than evil. I especially like Rocher, Becky's best friend, who lives vicariously through Becky's experience and has enough sass for both of them as she helps Becky keep it real.

Christine Edison is on page 39 of 180 of The Great Gatsby
Picked this up recently to read before the movie is released. I like the descriptions so far but the characters are not very likeable. Nice mystery developing trying to figure out the shadowy Gatsby character. There's always something jaded and unspoken going on in each scene.

Christine Edison is on page 30 of 637 of Eona: The Last Dragoneye (Eon, #2)
Why is Eona portrayed on the cover as Caucasian? It's troubling me after reading article about Justine Larblastier's novel Liar: http://justinelarbalestier.com/blog/2....

Eon ended with quite a bang, and this book starts out just a few days later. Although the character went through some major growth at the end of the first book, she's still got issues, and her dwelling on her shortcomings was a little trying after a while in the first volume. I'm hoping she's growing more and moving beyond that in book two.
