I am so conflicted. on one hand the book is good, on the other there is SO much wasted potential for parallels and angst. Alex and Freddy! Alex and Julius! Alex and his dad! Please Anthony I am begging you, one SMIDGE of angst!

For a Serious spy novel this is charming as hell. LeCarre's prose is delightful
