Really really captivating. I mean, there is a big but very obvious twist that you can see coming a mile away, but I'm not mad about it.

Am I missing something? Kel and Lin are both obsessed with Connor, but he suuuucks? Why are they not with each other. I demand answers.

It's fun to read from Tybalt's POV but he's so miserable and the plot feels so slow, especially since we already know the end from reading the last book...it's tough to get through. Normally I plow through these books in a day, but this one is tough. Also, October has gone the way of Kate Daniels and briefly had her story hijacked by a pregnancy subplot, which I rarely enjoy. Still, every Toby book is a must buy!

Not even sure why I am still reading this other than dumb curiosity at this point. It's definitely not fun with the horrible violence and mostly meaningless plot. I just wanna know what Estrella is like everyone else. I'm not even that invested in any of these characters.

Dubious consent and some Stockholm syndrome! Let's see if things redeem themselves. There is the potential for an interesting plot under all the smut.

Well, no I looked ahead because I have no self-control and they are back together at least temporarily around 250 pages in so, okay, this might be bearable.

Wait a second... who is Aefe and why do I need to care? And are Tisaanah and Max going to be apart for the whole book because that's unacceptable. it's over 600 pages long. Aaaagh.

took a bit for me to get into this one, but it's catching on. An urban fantasy that doesn't shy away from real life topics-- COVID, systemic racism, transphobia, and the ordinary, less glamorous lives of ordinary women who also happen to be witches. One character is a TERF, though, and it's really hard to be in her head for her POV chapters.

Pace is a little weird and the jumping back and forth from POV's and timelines is a little confusion. And its creepy so far!

I wish I'd reread the first 3 before starting this one, but most everything is coming back. Arresting prose and characters as always. I'm obsessed with Laia and Helene and am 100% ready for Elias to get over himself or whatever needs to happen there to HAPPEN.
