not quite sure how I feel about the engagement because mr rochester emotionally manipulated jane and it was overkill, like there wasn’t a need for that other than a dramatic moment and to make her jealous. also the storm splitting the tree with the roots still connected crazy symbolism (I think)

the whole sequence meeting mr rochester was described so intricately- could imagine it so clearly in my mind like it was in a movie, he doesn’t want anyone to know his business- he definitely could’ve just said who he was to jane once he realized she was thornfield’s governess so it’s a little weird imo what’s he hiding and he wants the cookie obv- jane reminds me of armin from aot actually

they were GRINDING in lowood like horrible conditions, mental abuse, david goggins would love it there - it’s weird bc jane seems to be getting goated she’s learning languages, writing, cooking there’s no way eliza and them r working this hard. helen makes me sad she’s just taking so much and OF COURSE shes the one who gets tuberculosis 😐”by dying young i will escape great sufferings” like cmon

this is the ultimate gothic setup. jane actually has it bad but im glad she hasn’t folded yet - she stood up to mrs reed, articulated her thoughts so clearly and clocked her bad. she’s so smart and knows she isn’t defined by what others say very inspiring - mr brocklehurst SUCKS like this dude is such a pretentious loser and im running out of space but lowk invested on jane revenge arc that mb will happen? idk

ok part one had me hooked but it’s started to slow down a bit - loved the rivalry arc b/w rin and nehza - a little lost keeping track of the new cike characters but happy altan is a major character now 🙂‍↕️

love the setting - my favorite part so far was the prologue tbh, but I’m sure things will pick up soon 🧘

got some reading in last night - pretty easy reading + pictures :) still want to make my yearly reading goal...can't let all my goodreads fans down
