DNF- You know when in the first few minutes of reading the big baddie starts musing about how impossibly large he is and how to make it all the more difficult for a gal on the rare occasion he hauls it out that he’s studded it all the way (and that’s just his human form) that this is going to be nothing but domination/submissive humiliation porn and that is NOT what I want from my fairy tales.

Finally gave up. I thought this would be a journey I would sob over but found myself just not feeling anything but boredom.

Gave up about 30% through. For any siblings fights happen, but these two are horrific with one another, and the author keeps repeating similar phrases over and over that are just jarring to the story and kept kicking me out of the world I had hoped to be immersed in. The author’s first series is a fast-paced and fascinating thrill ride, but with these two lead characters, I just couldn’t care as to their fate.

Giving up. When the only person you’re remotely interested in is the grandmother (who only pops up a few times and then dies in her sleep as a way to force a plot line) it’s time to admit that this is just not the book for you.

I’ve given up on this. Beautiful prose, and the writing style, while it jumps a lot between scenes, is fine and not difficult to follow. I just can’t get past the fact that Joy chose to have an emotional affair and fall for Mr. Lewis while still married to her husband. It doesn’t matter that her husband was abusive and already an adulterer, it’s still an affair.

I absolutely love the beauty of the author’s prose, but the story itself is bothering me heavily. I remember having seen Shadowlands decades ago and not liking it as Joy has an emotional affair with Jack while she is still married. Turns out it’s front and center here as well, and I’m really disliking our heroine, despite her abusive husband. I probably won’t finish. Shame.

Sooooo not what I was expecting...the segment on being a fan and meeting her heroes (and bombing it) was hysterical fun. This was not only an educational eye-opener in how to succeed by throwing out the manual and doing things your own way, but also a look into Felicia's life, neurosis and all. I can't help but feel a bit of kinship in recognizing a fellow socially backwards WoT and Trixie fan...
