Ok but the butler too?! I LOVE this level of supporting cast of characters!

Ok I think I read half of this last night in one sitting. This book feels scary and is absolutely meant to be read at night. Hyacinth hooked me early and hasn’t let me go. And what is up with Sorrell? There has to be more there? Is there a sequel? It already feels like this book can’t be long enough to satisfy the reader

Oh boy, controversial is gunna be the descriptor for this book.

Cleaning Lentils “Seeing you in our house is like waking up to a dream, my angel,” and the ‘casual poetry’ of his grandparents makes me wish I had read this 15 years ago but I will now be consciously incorporating casual poetry into my life. What a way to romanticize life.

Tbh was sold on the foreword by Edwidge Danticat.

So I finished this and immediately started the audiobook. I don’t know if I’m comfortable reading or what, but I absolutely loved this book and am hoping this audio format will give me a little more.

My escapist reading has begun.

I’ve really enjoyed this book, but this part is so distressing. This man was legally trying to enter the US with all his proper documents in order and somehow ends up in a ‘detainment center.’ A prison.

The amount of times this book has shocked me really seems like it should be spread out for my poor nerves. I’m scared to finish it

This book took such a turn when I thought I saw other ones coming.

So I’m just keeping up the momentum for book 3, releasing soon. I honestly don’t even know if I’ll read it (book 3) soon because I don’t own and won’t buy these. A girl can hope her library comes through, though

I was hoping to count this as a Dark Academia for BINGO, but mixed definitions lead me think it’s not. Siiiigh. Maybe if she had joined the Scribes instead…

Perhaps it’s time for some fluff

Chapter 5 or so - I wonder at why this upstanding man shares such frivolities of his youth with us, and ponder until I appreciate that this is his journey. Of the very base knowledge I have, I’m looking forward to reading how he grows and changes, and what those events and circumstances are.

Idk what’s wrong with me. Let’s continue the theme. It’s, at least, a short book. Translated from French.
