I see why some reviews say it's "a strong essay, but not as a story". I'm warming up to it, though.

I'm gonna finally give this a try, but so far, the writing has felt kinda tedious (and at times, beautifully evocative?)

so far, this book is a complete drag to get through. why is everyone an asshole. why is it all so obnoxiously pretentious. why am i rolling my eyes so much at a book that fits the description of what i know i’d like. please tell me it gets better, i don’t wanna dnf this but i think it’s gonna happen ._.
