The biggest twist was even more upsetting than I thought. It goes to show to what lengths some people do to get & keep their power for generations. But it also made his homecoming even more satisfying. At that point, I didn’t care for peace either, shoot. The ending though… I know it’s what would’ve given him peace but didn’t he deserve to see what happened next? Looking forward to the next book & where it takes us!

That plot twist. I guess I should’ve known when it was mentioned no child ever returned but wow, the price he paid to learn that. And then there’s more to uncover too. Need to find out if the cousins’ city is in on it too and if the A is really an enemy. Utomi’s storytelling is done well.

I didn’t agree w/ H’s choices in these last chs of the book & we saw the consequences. M & W’s deaths upset me & part of it was directed at H. If he wasn’t so focused on trying to break the arena, things could’ve changed. But he didn’t deserve what happened to him either. Snow really is ruthless. I’m glad E made several appearances to keep him up but yeah, you can’t blame him for how he was after. Liked it overall.

I can’t wait to see how this Arena looks like in the movie. Because from H’s POV, it’s breathtaking but dangerous as the water, flowers & animals come to prove. RIP, W, who was trying to protect LL in the bloodbath. L & A’s deaths were sad, especially A’s. I knew the flooding wouldn’t have been enough. Glad he reunited w/ M afterward. But now that P is out, who will these 2 face off in the end - a Career or Newcomer?

Okay, so it wasn’t L but that’s messed up. Small mercy they didn’t outcast Lou Lou. It boggles me how much multitasking H is doing before the games and to score a 1, wow. Guy can’t get a break. Also, Effie’s here! To the rescue & related to P, apparently. It took over 200 pgs for the game to start & H is on his own, with a not so good start. I wonder how many of the Newcomers survived Day 1.

Wait, what?? I was going to comment about how sad it was to lose a tribute before the games even started but Snow had a surprise at the end there. Haymitch was definitely brave for his performance AND drinking the milk. Also, omg, I gasped when Wiress, Mags and Beetee made an appearance. I don’t remember if the previous books mentioned their connection to H but poor B for having his son reaped in this game.

I’m back after 2 years of absence because I actually started reading again. I heard good things about this book & this edition caught my eye so I bought it. Oh, man. Back in the world of Panem & it’s as bad as I remember it. Haymitch really shouldn’t have interfered but I know, couldn’t help it. I think I like Maysilee’s sass but she needs to think before speaks. Plutarch being morally ambiguous even at this point.

The hype got me curious about this book so I got it & it got me reading again. I have a soft spot for underdogs so it didn’t take long for me to like Vi. Getting into the Riders Quadrant was rough but she made it. A lot of things put her at a disadvantage but she has some support. Thank goodness for Mira. Dain might get her in trouble but she’s safer w/ him there. My opinion of Xaden changed after she sees his club.

One of the books I bought recently & thought would be a good way to start the year. It’s been a while since I’ve read anything Grisha related & still bummed they canceled the Netflix series, so this was nice. We knew A & B didn’t have an easy life, but seeing this moment made me sad. The desperation to survive. For him to offer his life seemed OOC, but he was different then. Can’t fault their motivation for change

Man, that was messed up. A did her dirty. This last quarter of the book was not good for my heart. The world threw everything at E & J to make sure they don’t get together & it’s just sad. I wish they didn’t leave The Hollow & just lived blissfully there. Screw everyone else. But I know, illusion. Props to the author about “The End.” I’m definitely Team J now & SO glad I have the last book on hand so I can continue!

Eva sure likes to think the worst of Jacks even after all the times he has saved her. They can say what they like about each other but it’s beyond attraction at this point. & as much as I like the development, their bickering has gotten old. The only thing keeping my interest is the hunt for the stones & the mysteries behind them. I can’t believe E did what she did for the Youth one. MCs don’t usually go that far.

Eva passed optimistically naive to foolishly reckless MC. She really shouldn’t have saved L or M because they’ll only cause trouble but what really bugged me was when A aimed at her & she just stood there. There’s only one thing to do in that scenario, girl, & that’s to run! Smh at the 2nd encounter & visiting T in jail hoping she can get info out of him. Going to this party is a bad idea. I think J is endgame

One naive decision after another. Idk why she thought it was a good idea to give L a sword to break free. Are you kidding me? & to still believe that she & M could mend things by confessing what she did. J clearly has feelings for her but she doesn’t see it. Adding Eva to frustrating MCs I’ve ever read. I don’t think J is the master manipulator she thinks he is but I guess I’ll find out for sure in the next book.

Evangeline bit more than she could chew on this one & idk how she can get out of it. I didn’t like Apollo that much but I don’t think he deserved that. & there’s an outsider behind it, not Jacks? I’m shook! When does the prophecy come to play in all of this? What does J want from the Valory Arch?

Back to reading books after almost two years of hiatus & I’m glad to start off with this now that I have all 3 books. Evangeline is an interesting character because she’s both naive & daring. The beginning was rough though because there was a lot of wth moments. From the deal w/ Jack to turning to stone to going to the North & now the engagement. Her decisions astound me. She has good chemistry w/ Jacks though.

I'm sooo glad this book finally came in today. That Prologue, of course Maas knows how to introduce a character & have you feel things for her by the end of it. I hope Tharion finds her. Speaking of, I don't like the idea of betrothed princes still messing around. I liked Runh more before Ch 3. & what the heck, Autumn King? That was low. B & H should've been together before the start of this. Still rooting for them.

Katarina's life in the Ministry just got even more interesting. I thought we were just following M's progression, but it turns out it's not just hers. You expect me to believe that it's all just a coincidence though? Oh, please. I'm kind of concerned about the idea that the game world might be out to get K. In the end, she & M might find themselves on opposing sides and I don't want them to. OG cast at the end is <3.

This is exactly what I needed after the finishing S2 of the anime. The events in Ch 1 were shown in the last episode, but I'm still glad I read it because of the extra details that weren't in the anime. I didn't know what to expect now that Katarina has joined the Magical Ministry but I knew that test wasn't going to be easy. Can't wait to see how Laura & Hart look like in the anime. I like the idea of D & M.

I finished Season 2 of the anime last weekend & wanted to know what happens next, so I turned to the light novels. I thought this volume would be a good place to continue, but it didn't really contribute anything new to the plot & some of the side stories were included in the anime. Still a good read though because I got to meet some characters that were not in the anime & gain some insight from other characters' POV

I'm under the impression that this book is Percy Jackson meets THG & it intrigues me. Poor Greek gods. Not surprised that Athena is one of the last gods standing but still not sure of her motive in approaching Lore. L's motive is questionable too. Why avoid all of this until now? A couldn't have been that convincing. I like Lore & Miles' friendship & warming up to Castor. Interested in how he became the new Apollo.

What ended up justifying his return happened to require his sacrifice, so in the end, he's gone again but not necessarily permanent. Why bring him back in the first place if you were going to take him away again anyway, Bardugo? To use him as a plot device for SOC 3? Smh. I prefer if you didn't. I was shocked by what Hanne did. I didn't see that coming & didn't know she had it in her. That was probably the best

Zoya is Ravka's deus ex machina in this war & I'm not mad at all. Fjerda was at an advantage in number & technology & no aid came for Ravka except for the kherghud, so the dragon's appearance was most welcome. I guess the Monk's purpose of being in the war was to save N in one moment, turn his back on him in the next, reveal Z's identity & declare her a saint. *rolls eyes* Not exactly enough to justify his return.

I also wanted to shake Queen Leyti. What the heck?! Where is the justice after all Makhi did?! So frustrating! The same goes for the Monk. He has the same intentions as Nikolai, but why turn your back at the last moment when your country needs you the most? Smh. He is as Alina said. I knew the Apparat was bound to act sooner or later but that was so messed up. I was touched Z prioritized Nina & they're reunited.

Nikolai shone the most in this last 4/5 of the book. To go as far as revealing the monster within him twice to save people despite the consequences & stand his ground in the battle up North is admirable. I love Kaz, but even I'm worried about what he'll do w/ the knowledge. I'm relieved Z didn't shove him out of the airship, LOL! Tbh, I wanted to do the same to her & N after his confession. What a waste! Waste!

I'm hoping for that reunion to happen someday. Nikolai & Kaz together made up for it in the meantime. Why is it always a heist w/ them? LOL! K tried to pull a fast one on N but thank goodness for J. & that revelation about Zoya? Whoa! We really didn't know her at all! Nina had a lot on her plate too. Her ability to forgive is put to the test. I like H, but I'm not sure how I feel about that last scene. Not over N & M

I'm not surprised w/ what happened to Reyem, but still disgusted w/ Makhi's project. Queen Leyti's last sentence in Ch. 29 was sooo satisfying. The highlight for me though was the Dregs' appearance. I just saw Kaz & Jesper in the Netflix series, but it feels like forever in the bookverse & I missed them so much. I forgot how much I enjoyed K, J & Wylan's interactions. If only Nina & Inej were there too...

The Monk's destination was interesting. To think a place like that exists beneath a church. I didn't like Yuri before, but I'm kinda glad he's there to act as a conscience. To think Zoya planted seeds to honor those who died since the original trilogy. I really didn't know her at all her then. Those two continue to frustrate me as they deny their feelings for each other. I appreciate that moment at the garden though.
