We are trying to do too many things. I have almost know interest in the mystery. I feel like it made a good pretext for getting everyone together. But I don’t care about it beyond that.
Especially when the relationship dynamics are so complex. And lightly explored

Having a really bad week. So Mystery Theatre 3k reading it is

“and he bit back the scream trying to claw out of his chest..”

I will never understand this trope

someone is a gifted writer, they’re probably getting it wrong.
I think I do an okay job of reminding myself that I know worse than nothing about gay culture.

I came across a phrase that made me wonder again, how skewed my understanding of gay men and gay male culture is as a result of these books. The writing is often decidedly female in its perspective. And too often, so are the characters. Not great. Because even a femme guy is going to express himself far differently than a cis (usually straight) woman author. Unless

Having so much fun. I hadn’t realized I’d never read this series. I was sooo sure I had got into it and stopped reading. Maybe that will turn out to be correct and I’ve just forgotten. But I feel like I mixed this series up with a different one. Similar premise, superhumans instead of shifters though. Which I liked, but the writing was more dense than I was in the mood for. It’s wild

it sounded like they were in my head. They said, “We’re here” and “We’ve got your back” and “No one messes with our wolves” and, randomly “I’m gonna fuck some shit up, you better believe it, you just watch me, I swear to god.”

They both know they’re each other’s mate. They know it’s dangerous for Gavin to go into the situation without that bond. They are super protective ready to die for each other. More than once now.
I literally can see no other reason for their not complaining the bond, other than the plot calls for it

I’m bored by everybody freezing when they need to run. Talking when they need to act. This book is irritating the stuffing out of me.
It has distinction as the best hate read I’ve ever done

I really need this book to be shorter. It’s giving me moments. Like I just finished crying a little when we went back to joe’s kidnapping. AGAINNNN. Omg. I’m so bored

So far the story is just treading water, mostly a collection of flashbacks.

Surprise twist. But the kind that comes from a twist of technique. First two books are loaded with history and flashback at the beginning. This one is a little different and now I feel tricked because I started it thinking it was similar. I was a little impatient with the second book cuz not a lover of a couple of the devices. And now, I’m just reading to find out what happens. But completely outside the story

Love this book. But the fact that Rico is a stereotypical cartoon character becomes more and more obvious given the way Klune complicates EVERY other character but him. If he’s Latino, shame on him. But the surfacesness of the caricature makes me doubt it. Like ethnicity written by AI, rootless

Reread6/23 about us. Just as Adhara wrote, it’s only partly disinfo and disinterest rampant in white communities. We keep a lot under wraps. Understandably.
