Holy crap, coming in strong with one of the most, uh, inventive (?) and brutal murders I've ever read about. Popcorn is out! Good lord! 🍿

I started this on a whim last night and ended up reading until almost 1 am - which is not a choice I make lightly when I have three kids who wake up at the crack of dawn. I am enthralled!

Going to tackle this in the original Russian. I anticipate it will take me a year at least LOL

Unbecredifabulous was just used in a sentence and the female main character is an idiot. "My friend was brutally tortured and murdered 2 months ago already, it's time for me to move on and date someone who fits the exact same description of her mystery boyfriend who is the main suspect in her murder."

I think Freida read the Great Gatsby and then listened to a true crime podcast right after, based on the character names and location lol

I think I'm going to have to DNF this. The writing is good, I think I am just not that into fantasy where the entire world has to be built and I don't appreciate a murdered toddler in the first like... 2 seconds of the book. Also, I apparently have guessed the twist within the first POV change simply because my brain is incapable of remembering fantasy names and systems apparently

Please never write a detailed scene of packing a get away bag it destroys any sense of urgency and is so boring

Remind me to review the most obnoxious thing about this book - main character is from Provo/American Fork area and has literally no believable background or personality to back this up. The Utah cop has a giant cowboy hat and boots and a deep south accent? What? Provo is a very niche culture that this author clearly didn't know about haha
