I can't help but think maybe this is a weird thought experiment from the author after reading My Year of Rest and Relaxation. Like maybe this is the aftermath of the photographs we never saw come to fruition. Just an idea. Also, I love the writing and Percy is a real one. I feel like she's saying all the quiet parts out loud to us while still remaining quiet.

Wow wow wow. OMG. So unhinged. Idk what I expected but not all this. Also we have some sick burns that make me laugh out loud.

I'm obsessed with the fact that this whole story hinges on a newcomer wanting the hot goss.

& While the characters names are confusing I'm choosing to let the story wash over me and I'm finding it quite enjoyable and it's making me think I need to give classics a better try.

I know it's old but I'm always stunned by racism and domestic violence and religious extremism. & Yet it's horrifying that not much has changed.

If I could edit what I've read so far I would take out several repetitive words: "Lamesa" "West Texas" "teenager" "17" (we know where you are and how old you are why the fuck do you keep saying this?!)

I'm just confused. Does this character just have the same name? Is this a different time? If it's current time, how did they get here? —so far it's all over the place and I'm trying to keep up but this takes way more brain power than normal. I'm in it for the hopes Gideon comes back and to watch over our weakling Harrow.
