How do I say this? This book series is interesting. The characters and the world building are great. But the writing sometimes seems so tangled with the pacing being a bit choppy to me. The talking basilisk does't help. I don't know why but it annoys me.

I am purely reading this for the way the plot goes because I am intrigued.
