Started this audible audiobook because I loved this book as a kid. The quantum time machine in this blew my mind. This book was ahead of its time. It was written over 20 years ago and I wonder what we'll learn about quantum mechanics in another 20 years. But this book was adapted into an absolutely awful fucking movie with Paul Walker. I left the theater 20 mins in.

Telemachus reunites with his father and is ready to smash some suitors. Claire Danes's narration is just off. She sounds like she's doing a character rather than hearing it read naturally. Perhaps they should've gotten a skilled orator instead of just a famous name.

They finally made it to the 2nd floor after beating a borough boss. So I'm guessing the series spans all the floors. The scale of this book is massive. There's trillions of viewers watching this nonsensical "Dungeon Crawl." As if the galaxy cares about live entertainment to follow these oppressed worlds and sponsor individual crawlers like fucking hunger games. Still, a pretty fun book despite the wild concept.

Easy read. Basically a cleverly-worded video game. The cat being able to talk was a surprise. So far, the book is straightforward. No big surprises. Yet.

Earth is suddenly transformed into a video game dungeon battle Royale where one person comes out after 18 levels. Seems like a book geared toward nerdy gamers. The book cover art depicts this goblin-driven steam-powered bulldozer that's going after Carl and his cat, Princess Donut.

Listening to the Full Cast Recording of Goblet of Fire. New actors for Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Can't say I'm an immediate fan of the voice actor for Hermione yet. The scene where the Weasley's picked up Harry from the Dursleys was brilliantly done. Love Simon Craig as Ron's dad, Mr. Weasley. Excited to listen to the chapter of the Quidditch World Cup, when that was my least favorite part of the books in reading.

He's now labor secretary in the Clinton Admin. He didn't think Bill would win but he had impressed Bill and Hillary when he was at Yale. No doubt he's brilliant, but he's too much of an idealist. He's always either worked in gov't or faculty, never an entrepreneur until he had already left the gov't.

The antiquated prose of this book is still throwing me off but I'm listening to the audiobook by Claire Danes, the two-book Odyssey and Iliad version. I never understood why the suitors were permitted to remain in Penelope's house. Wasn't Odysseus the King of Ithaca? So Telemachus, supposedly a baby when Odysseus left for Troy, was the heir? Why did she have to marry another?

Up to Book 4's TriWizard Ball, one of the lamest parts of this book, which has some real cringe in it. The more adult Harry gets, the lamer the interpersonal relationships become.

Listening to the Claire Danes Audible Iliad & Odyssey. I forgot who antiquated the writing, prose, and translation is. Greek gods punishing Odysseus for some reason, I forgot about that lame tie-in. I wonder why we were rooting for the Greeks when they sacked Troy, as in invaded another country for no other reason than conquest.

The audiobook is such a joy. This voice actor does a great job. But we really need a full cast edition of the audio book. Hopefully we get one after the movie.

Listened to the full-cast audible audiobook. Like the previous full-cast editions, it is so much more immersive. I rolled my eyes reading about quidditch or listening to the audiobook versions from Jim Dale, but listening to it here, especially the match against Slytherin, was incredible and immersive. Although, my only gripe so far is that the voice actor for Snape kinda sucks....

And having Harry in the Tri-Wizard Tournament seems a giant oversight by Dumbledore. On this re-read, Harry also is no regular boy with tumultuous emotions regarding girls, and seems more effeminate. But it is a kid's book and it's written by a lady. And Snape is loathesome, despite whatever cuck sacrifice. The contrived plot of Ron hating on Harry also seems completely ingenuine. My least favorite book so far. (2/2)

In Book 4 now, with an adult tone, especially with the Voldemort opening chapter with a Harry witnessing a murder. This books seems a lot more contrived, with having Barty Crouch Jr. disguised as Mad-Eye Moody seems like a giant plothole that the greatest wizard, Dumbledore, did not notice the difference. And that Jr. could have such advanced magic even despite being confined. (1/2)

Very bored with the beginning. The kid lives on a farm, his father went bankrupt and left his mom there. Mom told him to leave and he did. Now the kid is homeless and stealing food. Not a good start to a novel and don't really like it but will read on when I am truly bored, I guess.

Completed the third book. Such a great read and the nostalgia from two decades ago just hits you. It still holds up as one of the best HP novels. The Alfonso Cuaron movie is very faithful to the book and did a great job in adapting it. Probably the last movie I really liked in the series as the rest do not have John Williams composing its score and didn't have decent directors.

Finished reading the chamber of secrets. Even now, reading it after more than two decades of when I read it first, it still holds up and gives warm and fuzzy feelings. The whole sequence of Harry going into the chamber and the fight with the serpent and aftermath was fantastic. It was well done in the movie but the book completely withstands the test of time. Very few other books have ever given me this feeling.

Apparently he had a crush on Hillary Clinton when he met her, and introduced her to Bill Clinton, when they all went to Yale Law School along with Clarence Thomas. He went to Yale because he wanted to do good and learn how, which is why many went there, he says.

Halfway through the second book. The second movie is really faithful, but the Book Malfoy is a lot more intolerable. And there is a lot more detail into the Polyjuice Potion and Aragog chapters.

Started on the second book as I listened to the sorcerer's stone cast recording on audible. Still a delightful read and love JKR's prose. About a quarter of the way through the second book and picking up bits and pieces I forgot over the years. Reading one book a month to get caught up on when the next cast recording comes out in December.

Incredible book. Biden was a fool to have dropped out, and he was still very capable of governing, contrary to popular "opinion" in his party. Or he shouldn't have sought reelection. But dropping out was the worst move because America didn't know Harris. Trump monopolized on his assassination attempt and cornered the angry white people vote while fooling them to think he cared. It's the revenge administration now.

He talks about how he was influenced in the civil rights era, particularly when white activists were murdered when going to the South. He talked multiple times about how he hates bullies and has been dealing with them all his life (early on due to his height, and later on due to his opinions). His politics are obviously left-leaning but he is very sincere and offers a good argument.

On the full cast edition. It's a fantastic, top-tier production. The voices are so good, the sound design (effects, music, background, etc.) is so immersive, and they seamlessly transition between the chapters. The full cast edition on audible is a must have for every Harry Potter fan.

Rereading this book that I read as a kid. I have watched the Caviezel film about it which was meh. Looking forward to the 8-part miniseries supposedly being released next year. This is one of the greatest revenge stories, and Edmund Dantes is about to get horribly betrayed after returning from a voyage where his captain died and he had to assume command.

Two third of the way through, we hit an impending tragedy, with the main character acknowledging that he was a fool to think he can ever change the system. Things have been pretty smooth, considering the morbid nature of the games. I love the lore drop but we all know what's going to happen. I like this book a lot. But the author definitely "Gary Stu'd" her protagonist to make him a lot more competent and eloquent.

This is now a plot to blow up the arena and end the Capital's sadistic games. Haymitch seems to be a little too Gary Stu even though he's from the crappiest district. I'm on board with the plot though, but being a prequel, I know it'll end in a tragedy as the hunger games survived to see Katniss chosen for the games.
