I liked it but wouldn’t read book 2. I felt a little blindsided by the romance at the end, I didn’t think there was any chemistry there leading up to it. But I was listening to the audio version so maybe I missed an important bit while driving. All in all, I would have preferred the book without it.

Another book club pick, but not one I would have chosen for myself. It was extremely descriptive, so if it wasn’t for the audiobook it would have been a DNF. I did enjoy it though; historical fiction is always escapism for me. Just wish these old Dukes didn’t pick 13 year olds for wives - yuck!
