I dropped a book about a creepy stalking r*pist... to pick up a book about a creepy stalking kidnapper? I guess that's an improvement?? I really should've read the synopsis before starting this :')

Amazing - poorly written trash lit is just what I needed before uni starts again. It honestly reads like a crappy parody of Killing Stalking, or a deranged Dexter fanfiction.

Lovesickness was great. The Hikizuri siblings story was not as interesting, and the characters were not as much creepy as they were annoying and tacky.

Love the vivid descriptions, the setting, and the atmosphere. The characters I'll grow to like too I think

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)
Really enjoying thisso far. The only part that felt really satirical was when the gang was holding you-know-who hostage. She didn't feel like a real person at all and it kind of threw me off. The parts with Jesper's dad also feel stragely comical. Maybe the problem is that because the characters are so young but act like adults, all interactions with actual adults feel unrealistic.

Even better when re-reading! (Pretty sure I was just spoiled for the finale of the Shadow and Bone show, though...)

Rereading this is a must before reading the second book and rewatching Shadow and Bone. It's great to re-read this and notice so many details I didn't in the first read-through.

I am not enjoying this as much as CwF, but I am sure I will walk away with an appreciation for this novel too. The review that inspired me to keep reading:

Crier's War (Crier's War, #1)
It was going relatively well until the insta-infatuation (thankfully one-sided so far) and the coincidences and irrational decisions to progress the plot are just piling up (they all happened to be in the same location at the same time? X made it just in time to save Y? Y just decides that she kinda likes X, despite knowing her for "less than an hour" and makes X her handmaid? Makes sense,)

I just... binge listened to 8 hours of this. The translator is doing a phenomenal job, and the narrator is phenomenal too.. I am too emotionally invested in Benji, Bobo and the girls (Ramona included, you amazing BAMF). I see why people love Backman.

Aw this is awesome. Makes me miss London! When I get back, I'll be on the lookout for defunct tube stations.

Oh I can definitely get through this in the audiobook format. But there would be no way I'd have read this sitting down. Basically like listening to a posh friend, who probably studies english lit, spill the tea of a wild year she had.

I don't think I can sit through much more of this... I couldn't concentrate while reading it myself, so the audiobook is saving me. At least I get to listen to Rosamund Pike...

My gawd this just makes me want to play Witcher... It's like a combination of Book of Dust, the Witcher and maybe some Wheel of Time. Just awesome. I would've become obsessed had I read this when I was 12/13.

I mean... this is too angsty for an old-timer like me. I maybe would have loved this when I was 12 or 13, but Hearing "gALaDRiel's" (seriously?) b**ing and moaning about how unfair and awful life and people are honestly just puts me in a negative mood. Especially the boarding school drama.. it is so triggering ;--;

I'm bored and just want it to be over, to be brutally honest. Only the narrator makes this worth listening to. Maybe I am missing something... People said this was similar to Arcane, and I honestly cannot see it for the life of me. Yes, Gideon is funny and the author's humour is great, but the storyline and the pacing of the story are tedious. Things are *happening*, but not really.

One of the very few books that have kept me hooked recently. The writing style and the story are a definite page turner.
