Starting group 1 to group 3 connection practice. I almost prefer this book to cursive studies in Write Now, but that may be due to the fact that this isn’t the running hand. This is slower and thus controlled specifically. Cursive feels difficult to control, especially with wet or broad writers fountain pens.

Transitioning to cursive lowercase. Able to write regular italics using different nib types including stubs due to using Learning Calligraphy along with this book.

Using for round nib writing. Different nib sizes offer different levels of control. Needs practice.

Went back and worked on some Celtic letters. They’re quite easy now. Makes sense why they’re introduced before book hand and italics. Italics do feel more difficult since they need good proportions.

Basic strokes and group 1 letters looking good but need more practice for better proportions.

Nice step by step instructions, though.

Beginning Italic exercises

I flipped through the entire book in about an hour yesterday since I found the drawings to be gorgeous. The techniques with ink and brush are precisely what I’m looking to work with and they’re applied here to figure drawing, quickly. It’s perfect for me right now. As usual, I plan to read through the text first and then start working through the drawing practice.

I’ve read the first three stories. I love this book already. The stories are teeming with humanity, innocence, wonder and simplicity. It’s just beautiful.

Skipping over Celtics and Gothics directly to Bookhand and Italics as a means of cultivating a regular handwriting script using a stub nib. Will be revisiting the Gothics especially at a later time.
