44 pages and counting on day 1 of reading this and i cannot put it down. super compelling, staccato writing and character exposition. just a pleasure to read.

Plugging away at this, it's my 'hard to read' book right now ;) -- because it takes me so much work to assimilate the historical detail or the names and places just become a whirlwind. Chadwick is challenging, but not a 'bad' writer; I have read him previously for a seminary class. I consider 100 pages in a victory though lol.

Been struggling quite a bit with prayer lately and heard Pastor Brian Borgman mention this book. It's in short chapters and includes many quotes from believers in history who have either struggled with prayer or have been mighty men of prayer.

Chadwick is slow going, I consider it a victory if I get 10 pages in one sitting lol. But I am trying to persevere as I have not read about the Reformation in extensive detail before. :)
