i mean this in the nicest way, this book reads like those macho action film that usually features like, jason statham or however you spell his name. just straight into action and dominated with conversation between gruff men

yeah this book still hits, laing writes with the precision of a surgeon

rereading this book in a similarly lonely time as my first read, but i can see echoes of the first-time reads as well

pacing this reading attempt more. i remember my first reading of this book was around the time i read "my year of rest and relaxation," a book that infuriated me; and these books kinda blended together in my mind, so i'm being more intentional with my intake

rereading this again to find company in the solitude i'm feeling

it shouldn't be such a rollercoaster, but this whole reading experience has been so heartbreaking. like i knew a lot of what was gonna happen, but the narrative has become increasingly more relatable
