Am desperately trying to find books to get rid of before I move to Chicago, so I picked a random one which I've never read off of my shelf. Unfortunately, my brain has the audacity to ENJOY IT.

Finally finished a decade after starting

Hmm...I dunno about this one, folks. Maybe I'm just sick of sad LGBTQ+ books, but this is a little too :( for my tastes right now. I'll have to wait and see.

This has been on my bookshelf since high school soooo time to read it or lose it. The description reads "His strict Greek mother refuses to see him as anything but a disappointment," but that is an understatement. HEAVY on the "abuse" tag that I failed to notice.

It's the conviction that Marlow uses when he speaks that makes it so unsettling.

Things are finally getting underway for this readathon. I’ve had this title forever and it feels good going through it, but content-wise I’m unimpressed. Why are the chapters so short? What does the protagonist see in the love interest? What are any of these character’s personalities? I hope it improves though the ratings on this make me nervous.

McCarthy impressed me in the beginning but it's beginning to drag. I keep asking myself when it is exactly that we'll return to the plot

Oh no no no. This writing style is not for me. This is supposed to be a short one but so far each page feels like it's 5

Reading again to finish paper. I keep finding more connections the second time around and God, I love this book so much. It's been so long since I've been able to connect with a novel this deeply.

Looking forward to the part where he redeems himself because right now every other line is making me livid. He walks around using homophobic slurs and tries to punch his girlfriend in the face.

The author really isn't holding ANYTHING back in this memoir.
