Reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins with the Morehead City Public Library Youth Advisory Board during the 2026 Summer Reading Program Teen Book Club. Each month we discuss a new portion of the book then wrap it up with a movie party!

June: Chapters 1-9
July: Chapters 10-18
August: Chapters 19-27

Made it to Chapter 13. The reviews called this book “funny” while I found nothing humorous at all. Tedious, perhaps. Not recommended.

Nope. I give up. I have no interest in slogging through any more of this to finally discover what makes Sybil’s writing so intriguing.

Made it to Chapter 11. This book is littered with sensationalism, so much that I cannot determine what is speculation based on hearsay or actually supported by facts. Mostly, it just pisses me off.

Needless to say, my thoughts about Delta Force dudes has not changed.

Maybe I will revisit this book later - but for now, it’s going on the DNF shelf.

Now, I remember why I never finished this series. Goodness gracious. I just realized that I absolutely cannot stand to listen to Bridget Jones prattle on…

Some SWF vibes… creepy or interesting? I’m not sure yet.

Just started this one and it is already pulling me in with a message from one of subjects of this book: ‘I want you to write about me. I am a victim of modern slavery, but no organisation is helping me. I also want to say it is not a matter of being greedy or stupid. It can really happen to anyone.’

Made it to Chapter 9 in the audiobook before it timed out. It’s much easier to comprehend with a British narrator reading to you like a student in a masterclass. Haven’t decided whether or not I will return the Kindle ebook or just hammer through the next 250 pages on my own.
