Now I feel like I should do a rewatch!

The Hoopla version is probably the worst way to partake of this book. Hahahaha!

Not only am I being inspired to visit new parks, I'm also wanting to revisit ones I've already been to! LOL

Re-reading to help inspire myself for where to go next. LOL, the Alaska parks hit very very differently this time!

Ooooo! Sacramento, in terms of locals pronouncing it "Sacramenno" appears! Really close to the quote, " But let's see whether there is a method to the madness before we determine whether or not these speakers deserve to go to the linguistic gallows for their slovenly ways." [p. 145] hahahahaha!

I've had this checked out for a month. Perhaps now is a good time to actually start reading it.

The author was on one of those language YouTube shows I watch... I was all in once I saw humor in the description.

I love how the penultimate chapter does a quick rewind of the 2 billion years cover in all the prior chapters <3

My library has the 1988 version so that's the one I'll read. LOL, even in this they say there's a lot yet to learn.

Ran out of time with my first check-out fortunately didn't take long after getting in line again. Now I'm rolling through the latter half of the alphabet. I can't believe I didn't know the origins of r but at least now I understand why they're called rhotic and non-rhotic accents.

Even reading on my Kindle this is way more engaging than that other language book I'm reading!

I've been trying to finish this book. But... yikes it's boring and I'm struggling.

One of my coworkers mentioned wanting to try Anne Stuart because they saw a TikTok about her being unhinged. Lol, I definitely do not have that recollection of her writing but rather than trying some of her newer stuff I'm going to re-read one of the few I liked of hers from years ago. Let the fun begin!

Can't promise that I'm going to make it through, but I'm starting since it feels like we're going through end of Reconstruction & Redemption 2.0 - 21st century style right now.
