“He is our divine Lover and God. All of the “problems” of life are part of His marriage to us. […]

All things in life must be that, because He is not relative to them, they are relative to Him. Everything is, for He is God, and God is the absolute.

He is not the solution to our problems. Our problems are His tasks and our opportunities, His teachings and our education, His will and our sanctification”

“Because of His omnipresence, nothing is secular. Not anything material, for he is incarnate. Not anything divine, for He is God. Not anything human, for He is man. The separation between God and man, and between spirit and matter, are all overcome by Him. He unites everything except sin”

I did not expect that some people actually believed that Jesus became a monk in the far east, but the most interesting one for me in the last chapters I’ve read has been the JW version and “our eldest brother”. Ultimately anyone who reduces Christ to a creation completely misunderstands his nature.

He is one person. Fully divine and fully human. The eternal, powerful, God. He is one person with two natures.

Great context to add the story of the monarchs of Aragon, Portugal and Castilla. Especially how the fall of Constantinople changed everything and indirectly started a chain of events that lead the extremeño Hernan Cortez who had a devotion to our lady of Guadalupe to go to the new world. I think the writer does a little bit of interpretation. He seems to be very fond of syncretism.

I really enjoy the author narrating the audiobook. He’s a very good reader and story teller. I think the way the story is narrated is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed chapter 5 where he focuses on how much quickly politicians turned on hating Hernan Cortez ( who had been dead for 250+years) and tried to burn his remains, About his love for the new world, the good and the bad, his rivalry with Charles V and death

I think it overall it covered the Venezuelan situation very well despite a few details that are not really essential for an overview. I think it did a good job on explaining how the Nordic model is far from socialist bc of its emphasis on private property, market economy etc but more examples would have better driven the point. IMO.

I had no idea that Marx and Engles thought that being part of the proletariats was worse than slavery and feudal serfdom 🥶

It's good at clearly explaining the cases made for each counterfeit, one chapter at a time, and why they don't add up with the evidence. I foresee that some chapters will be more interesting than others because some cases are more compelling and others are just silly to most people.
