Going to DNF this one. 'Lo' is just too annoying.

Not sure I will finish this. I hoped something would have happened by now, but she's still suffering over her husband's admission. And there are so many mundane things being described from start to finish.

Pfff this is quite a slog... Lots of people talking in meetings: conspirators, Paul and his people, talking talking talking. Not sure I'm going to continue with this.

This is the first JC novel I will DNF. After the umpteenth instance of Morag being a total, unempathetic, ungrateful brat I'm done. Such a shame, as I love all other Jenny Colgan novels, but this is just... no.

DNF number 3 this year. The premise was great, execution not so much. On to the next!

Nearly halfway and I'm wondering when the 'whip-smart comedy' and 'wisecrack a page' that are advertised on the back will start. It's an okay book so far, but so many characters with similar sounding names already I can't keep them apart, and need to reread paragraphs to understand who she's talking with. I'm also wondering where the story will go, as I'm already so far in and she's only just arrived in Hollywood.

I DNF'ed this one. I was very much looking forward to a book about the extraordinary Lee Miller, but instead I got a book about the simpering Lee Miller whose whole life revolves around Man Ray. I read a book once where she was a secondary or even tertiary character (I think it was Mrs. Hemingway) and even in the 2 or 3 chapters she had there she was stronger and a lot more interesting than in this whole (half) book.

DNF, ik vind de hoofdpersonen niet interessant, en het duurt allemaal zo lang. En als het verhaal gaat over 2 mensen die elkaar 1x ontmoeten en voor elkaar gemaakt zijn, verwacht ik tijdens de tussenliggende jaren meer verwijzingen naar elkaar, maar ze denken nooit meer aan elkaar.

Well, what I was afraid would happen with a tome this size, is now happening: I get bored. Not just with the number of pages, but also with the drama. Everytime you think everything is finally going India's, Fiona's or Sid's way, someone puts a spanner in the works. I don't like it when that happens over and over again. And there are still 300 pages to go, so this latest disaster will probably not be the last.

Wow, this is a let down... I don't like this book at all. The kids, especially the boy, are annoying, and the story just doesn't flow for me. Might try again later.

Jude is so annoying. I don't remember ever frowning or rolling my eyes this often when reading a feelgood book. So, unfortunately, DNF.

Halfway and I just can't be bothered anymore. The characters are flat and quite dumb, I feel I just reached the point where I know what happened (I mean, Marco is telling is though his thinking what happened) so I don't want to slog through the rest of the book. DNF.

DNF. I'm 140 pages in and Sydney Grice is still an unlikeable *ss with no redeeming features. And what's up with constantly calling him by his full name? 'Sydney Grice said...', 'Sydney Grice walked...' ugh, stop it.

Pas in hoofdstuk 10, en al 2 fouten ontdekt.
Ten eerste vindt de auteur dat je in 1883 'niet zover komt' met fl. 5,-, maar fl. 5,- toen was gelijk aan bijna € 60,- in 2020.
Later komt Véronique in haar nieuwe huis waar de elektrische kroonluchter brandt, maar de eerste woningen hadden pas elektriciteit in 1886, en dat was binnen een straal van 3km. om Kinderdijk, dus niet in Amsterdam.
Zal ik nog verder lezen?

It's really picking up, it stared picking up at around page 150. Now I even want to pick it up during the day, when I have a few moments to spare.
