So far, Lena is in the wilds and the girl named Raven saved Lena. Raven escaped to the wilds when she was 15 years old. Lena is hurt because as the book states, she got shot in her arm. Lena is learning. She is taking things more seriously. One thing she keeps on going back to is her thoughts about Alex. She wants to know where he is and if he is alive.

*So far, i really am enjoying this book.*

Lena and Alex got caught together when they were planning to escape to the wilds by the regulators. They took Lena to her house and no one could go next to her because "she was infected by someone." Lena's aunt Carol, had to tie Lena up so she doesn't get out of the room. Gracie untied the rope holding Lena. Alex can to escape with Alex. They were escaping but when Lena climbed the fence which..... =>

When they climbed the fence which is the border to the wilds, Lena was climbing the fence, Alex told her to climb because he was right behind her. When Lena looked down, Alex was still on the ground. When she got down on the other side, she saw that Alex got shot on his chest. I really enjoyed this book and I really want to read the other one to see what will happen to Lena, Alex, and Lena's mom.

Lena went to the Crypts with Alex to see if her mom was alive. Lena lived years believing her mother was dead but found out that she is alive and has escaped. Lena wondered why her mom didn't go back to her- The word LOVE saved her mom. Lena is being more rebellious by telling Alex she wants to move to the wilds. She knows the consequences which is death if they found out she escaped. Lena wants to find her mom.

Lena took the risk and faced her fear by going into the wild with Alex. Lena thinks the wild is a wonderful place to be. She thought that it was dangerous because that's what she's been told her whole entire life she also said that it seemed different from what everyone says. At the end, Lena questions why people say love is a disease and why they can't just like who they want to and go wherever they want to go.

Lena is scared of breaking the laws, and taking risks. Hana her BFF, likes to take risks and enjoy her life so does Alex. So fair in the book, Lena found out that Alex was an "Invalid" and he liked her. Lena ran away with fear because again, she hoped no one heard her and Alex talk in the middle of the ocean with the water up to their neck. Lena was also confused because she thought that Alex got the procedure

but it didn't work just like what happened to her mom which died because of the procedure. Lena also thought that Alex was cured because he had the scars on his neck. The scars mean that he was cured and had the procedure, but he never did. If Lena knew this earlier, she would have never messed with Alex or even talked to him because he is and Invalid. She would be breaking the law- She hates to do.

Overall, this book was a great book. I really enjoyed it because it showed how two girls under age got beat up and were abused everyday. Their mom was a bystander and didn't do anything but just look and watch the girls suffer. The girls met others that suffered from problems like theirs but different. People may be different but may have similar problems. I really enjoyed this book even though it is really sad.

Emma doesn't care about other things. She cares about what she wants to do meaning she wants to reach her goals.

This shows that they are concentrated and wants to aim their goals and dreams. NEVER SAY NEVER. NEVER STOP!

So far, this book has been awesome! The girls have moved out, Emma killed Jake (the pervert) and Emma is getting stronger. Grace got raped by 3 boys she met. They went to the hospital and she was okay. Emma and Briana found a job and they feel like they are home. They need money to survive and they want to rent an apartment.

Into this life. Looking around the dressing room, Emma sensed that the other dancers were similar to her. They went about doing what needed to be done, but something deep inside each of them had been stolen. For the first time in her life, Emma felt as if she was where she belonged."
This shows that Emma feels like she is actually worth anything and that its not only her that feels the way that she does... =>

I think that Emma is having more confidence and growing to being stronger. Based one the text, Emma realizes that others are alike and she's not the only one who appears to be the way she is. I think that Emma should keep on going and keep on growing stronger because she will get he dreams. She's taking her path to her dreams and wishes. Her 2 so called "Fathers" are both dead and she has FREEDOM to do things her way

Emma ended up killing her dad by putting rat poison on his food everyday because she couldn't take all the beatings anymore. When her dad died, Valerie, the mom, came with a man in the house. She had been secretly dating him for 6 months. The man is abusive too but he is perverted and doesn't like Gracie, the younger sister, but he likes the older sister.

This shows that she really wanted to kill her dad. Another example the text states is, "Over the next week, Emma fed her father large doses of rat poison every day. Slowly, he started showing signs that the poison was taking an effect on his body. It began with uncontrollable nosebleeds. Halfway into the second week, and to add to his horror, his gums began to bleed, then blood on the stools." This shows that... =>

Emma's and Gracie's dreams are actually coming true and as the book keeps on going on, the father dies because of the rat poison.

Now they have to deal with the "new man" in the house that the mother has been dating secretly for 6 months. The "new man" is a pervert and he should go to jail because of that. There is also a part that states that he works for the police and things like that...

The chapter I read was about the negihbor confronting the the father of Emma and Gracie saying that he needs to stop beating them or else she will tell her 3 sons to beat him up or she will call the cops on him and how Emma got confident since Mrs, Tisdale died.

This shows that Mrs. Tisdale was trying to stand up for the kids because the day before that conversation happened, Pepper(Father) told Emma to take her clothes off and lay down on the bed face down, he took his belt and smacked her on the back like slaves got beat up by owners. Later on in the chapters, he doesn't abuse them for 3 mo.

The chapter I read was about the father of Emma was abused when he was a child, and his mother died when he was a child so when growing up, he was a bully, but then changed when his teacher said that he can become someone in his life. So Emma's father abuses he and her 6 year old sister because he used to be abused and becuase he says that she ruined his life and dream.

This shows she's giving up on herself. She needs to believe and have the confidence even though its hard.

"dislocated at the shoulder.."
This shows her father is a real ANIMAL because he likes to sink in his teeth on people skin and he doesn't care if he pops your shoulder or brake your bones. As stated in the beginning of the book, the father told Emma that he doesn't care if he kills her. He could kill her now if he wanted to. Also as stated in the book, Emma is only 8 years old and her sister is younger than she is.

The theme for this book would have to be, "Don't give up on yourself... Days may be hard and tough but that's what life is about."

This shows he completely lost hope and confidence about who he is and what he can do. :(

I still wonder why Catherine(mother) would abuse David over a period of time. He never got abused when he was younger so why abuse him now? I think that she is a good person but just chooses to act like a jerk, nasty, and any other words you can describe her that shows that she doesn't have a heart anymore. I think that the reason Catherine abuses David like this is because when ever...

she gets into an argument with her husband, and he packs his bags, and would go to work, she would get really mad at that so when he leaves, she would take all her anger out on her son.
1.)"After he left, Mother would yank me out of bed and drag me to the kitchen. While I stood shivering in my pajamas, she'd smack me from one side of the kitchen to the other." This shows that she abuses her child and doesn't care.

The theme of this book is to do the right thing without being scared or afraid.

'You said that last Monday. Remember?' I quickly change my story, 'I was playing baseball and got hit with the bat. It was an accident….' But the nurse knows better. She scolds me so I'll tell the truth…...' This shows that the parent of this child abuses him and doesn't take care of him. He was trying to lie so he can be protected over his mother but it didn't work. Maybe the mother should take care of him too.
