How is this book not talked about more? This is insanely good… Opal is everything. I can’t describe how deeply this resonated with the media politics of today and the music industry at large. As a consumer of pop culture- specifically in the music space, Dawnie Walton has created a composite legend in Opal Jewel.

The flashbacks shuffling between over 30 days makes it difficult to orient myself at times. School = beginning, New Hotel Job = early middle, Grace gets Job/8th floor stuff- late middle, Grace missing= end?

Everything is interesting enough without the jumps

So far the first essay is by far and away the most noteworthy, getting ready to read the titular essay.

The seeds being laid are so good, I really hope this book delivers!! January produced FOUR of favorites last year DONT LET ME DOWN JANUARY!

Unfortunately I am not enjoying this... the writing is turning me off, the characterization is leaning on a cutesy/cozy manic-pixie-dream-girl, the world building is absurdist in an Alice in Wonderland-ish kind of way... I don't know this just might not be for meeeeee. I'm really hoping this is not standard Brandon Sanderson because I was really hoping to enjoy the Mistborn series...
