Exciting! Not just about music but also thought, perception, meaning making, and how we choose to live our lives and understand them. So far it’s very engaging.

Interesting premise but not a lot of character development. Lots of characters to keep track of.

Reading slowly with a small group for discussion. This is an intensely difficult book to read alone. Find compatriots, kindred spirits, to read it with, and hold hands, hold on.

Both frightening and consoling. Makes a lot of sense so far.

Great. Very engaging.

Reading slowly with my women’s group, The Graces. It’s well worth attention especially now that my husband is in hospice care and he is noticeably declining. Sadly his dementia makes engagement with the book’s ideas impossible, seemingly anyway. However, reading this may impact the quality of my caregiving, which is hard work.

“You have to get up every morning and decide again, in the cold lonely light of day, am I brave enough to stick this out?”
