I was going to dnf because the writing style isn't really my cup of tea but I am such a sucker for people falling into magical portals that I can't put it down!

The way my blood ran cold reading this. I can't even hate Ghassan bc he's a great villain so far but DAMN.

"Such affection for the shafit thief?" She raised an eyebrow. "You weren't so fond of me a week ago."
He grumbled. "I can change my mind, can't I? " A blush stole into his cheeks. "Your company is not ... entirely displeasing." He sounded deeply disappointed in himself.

Oh no, here I go falling for the (very likely to be) secondary love interest 🥲

Umm.. is it normal that I'm not understanding a single thing about this book? I've been going through chapter after chapter but it feels like I've accidentally started a 10-part series on the final book because I'm expected to know about everything without actually delving into worldbuilding, lore, characters, and magic system.

Such a freaking cute read so far!!

YASSEN MY BABY BOYY i miss you so much!! Legit crying my eyes out over here w/ just Elena being reminded of him & imagining what he'd say to her if he were there with her. This book is so heavy without him in it fr, but I really want to see what will happen to Elena next w/ Samson's bigger role in the story. I have to be honest, I didn't particularly care for him in the first book but I'm trying not to be biased!
