Very enjoyable read. I liked that the past was interwoven with the future and the reader went back and forth between two time periods. Likeable characters and an interesting story involving the orphan train, an occurrence that transported thousands of orphaned children to new homes in the Midwest. I found the ending to be a little sappy, but a heartwarming story that was well written and a fairly fast read.

This was selected for our book club and is one of the most boring, painfully slow and uninteresting books I have read in years. Very little happens in the book and the storyline is just dreary. I finally gave up on it a little more than halfway through and I very rarely have stopped reading and not finished a book. Nothing compelled me to read further; characters, story, even the house not appealing.
