It's a shame they didn't include mirror mirror in the movies, I quite like the idea of Gimli and Frodo looking out over the same water that Durin did at the beginning and seeing the crown of stars he did. Yet they were like "No.....elves" and it's like yeah but counter point dwarves. Have you considered dwarves? Even in the Hobbit movies, a book about DWARVES, they were like...add elves. But not the best one...

Once again here's Pippin fucking everyone's day up, drop a stone down a big stupid hole, that's genius. I'll be honest....Gandalf should've thrown Pippin down the well and been done with it. No more dumb Hobbit. All you have left is silent Merry, hand wringing Sam, and dumbass Frodo who can't seem to do anything right except get in more trouble. I feel so bad for Gandalf right now, he's herding cats.

Oh sure now Pippin is already regretting joining, bug talk for such a little Hobbit. Look I love the actor who plays him, but Pippin is literally the least helpful and most likely to get people killed. I'm just.....we could've taken another Elf or even Gloin FFS. Bring Gloin next time, he can hold the money again.

"Gandalf bore his staff, but girt at his side was the
elven-sword Glamdring, the mate of Orcrist that lay now
upon the breast of Thorin under the Lonely Mountain."

Cue the crying, Thorin you shit you had more to do. Also Bilbo gives his mithril to Frodo and says "Thorin gave it to me" and its like.....you mock my pain.

So let me get this straight? Elrond wanted to pick 2 more members and Pippin and Merry insisted they be them instead of like...someone more helpful??? TIE THEM IN SACKS AND SHIP THEM HOME. I would've stuffed them in sacks, tied them up, and dragged their asses home behind Bill the pony. I can't believe that's how it went in the books. Just WHY PIPPIN? Even in the movies he's useless. Also Glorfindel is so pretty.

Frodo is without a doubt, the dumbest of the Hobbits. I get Glorfindel's elf horse and I'm out. I'm out, I'm down the road, I'm past the Ford, I'm sipping tea at Rivendell while Elrond heals me and mutters about how dumb Hobbits are while everyone else shows up. I do not feel the need to challenge the Nazgul or deal with their shit. Also YAY GLORFINDEL. *flails in happiness*

Oh no how is Merry the smartest Hobbit? He literally says don't say Frodo's name and I'm like "Why wasn't it like this is the movies? They make him so much dumber in the movies, I demand justice for my Hobbit". Also thank Cthulhu they're in Bree and out of that effing forest.

Now I remember why I never got past the Hobbits leaving the Shire(ish), this man can DRAG shit out. I'm like "Okay we'll get to Aragorn on about page 150 of 570".....I'm on page 157 and they just got to the ferry. If the Hobbits had been left in charge of the hike to Mordor they wouldn't have made it to Rivendell. GET A MOVE ON. Also get to my guys, where are Glorfindel and Aragorn?

The Hobbits as a group are kind of whiny babies, and I never realized how bossy they are towards Sam. If they had kept this in the movies I think even more people would've been like "You can throw Frodo in the fires of Mount Doom Sam, we'll all look the other way". Also WTF you sold Bag End to the Sackville-Bagginses???? FRODO WHY.

The one thing I detest in "royal" histories is how many children everyone has and how hard the Dance of the Dragons is about to become because of it. I literally have to map this out on paper or get a family tree out before I read this part because I'm already confused.

I always cringe when Christie writes all Americans as selfish people who have larger than life personalities, she does the English even dirtier though. ARGH.

Well when you find a good thing stick with it. Also as much as I'd love Alina and Mal to sail off into the sunset I feel like they left a problem behind them they have to solve. Darn hot ex boyfriends with evil powers. Oh well.

I'm at the Intro and I can already tell you whose fault the French Revolution was. Louis VIX. If he hadn't built Versailles and just ruled from Paris and stopped getting into war after war his family might still be ruling France. Then again the French monarchy was never a really "people friendly" mode of ruling and kind of sucked for anyone not royal.
