Saurabh Bhattacharya is on page 250 of 709 of House of Leaves
Intriguing, clever, a bit on the nose with literary form shenanigans, but there is a genuinely touching voice hidden deep within. Like the house, I persevere with this tome to hear that voice which comes through in the occasional footnote or a random throwaway line…

Saurabh Bhattacharya is starting Babu Bangladesh!
160 pages in and I give up. The complex history of modern Bangladesh provides a lot of quality grist for this narrative mill but the execution is so tiresome! Labored magic realism is neither magical nor realistic. A pity, because somewhere in the monotonous prose lies a clever and empathetic sprite waiting to be brought to life.

I am going to shelve this one for now. It is a really intriguing book and has made me gain a lot of knowledge around Judaism but it demands an immense amount of focus. I hate doing this to a book but I will return to it soon…

Saurabh Bhattacharya is on page 560 of 896 of Fall; or, Dodge in Hell
Okay, need some help here. I love Neal Stephenson and I have read almost all his books. I know his way of writing can be borderline tedious (remember Seveneves and Anathem?) but I still love his big ideas. This book, Fall, is, however, getting to be a... very.... trying experience. Anyone has any ideas that could help me finish this rapidly-declining-in-style and substance tome?
