An absorbing collection of stories featuring familiar Murakami motifs such as cats, jazz and running. 'Kino' is a standout favourite about a recently divorced man who opens a bar with very few customers and only a stray cat for company. Through the power of myth and surrealism the reader ultimately understands Kino's pain. The final two stories didn't grab me as much as the others, but still a worthwhile read.
