I’ve made the decision to listen to this in audiobook format and her voice is cracking me up. So far the writing is absolutely terrible but my curiosity would not let me not read this book

This book is sooo sad, I can only read it in small chunks🥺

Very tough read so far :(( so so sad

I feel like I’m reading 2 different books at once. I understand that H.H. Holmes lived in Chicago during the building of the world’s fair but I don’t understand the connection between the two yet… and this is 6 hours into the audiobook 🫩

The descriptions of all of the kids vomiting and peeing themselves was too much for me

This chapter reminded me of my own struggles with Christianity. It’s disappointing seeing how many churchgoers pick and choose who they want to pray for or support, even though Jesus cared for outcasts. The way churches responded to the AIDS epidemic shows that a place meant for everyone turned its back when people needed it most. It just reaffirms for me how often Christians stray from the compassion they preach

This book is making me hungry

i get that it’s supposed to be possessive and rlly stalkery but holy cow this dialogue is making me CRINGE
