Okay this book just made me abjectly afraid for a second. Of reality. Of something that wants to get me and tear my untorn body apart. Good job, book. I don't know if a book has ever made me feel this way before. Like... a jump start or several of them as I read down the page. Woah.

This book & I have unfinished business. I almost read you last year, book. Let's start this over.

Too often I see tautological memes about suicide prevention JUST BECAUSE that don't help anyone. Pirsig's Metaphysical of Quality is a potent motivator and rational alibi for the inherent value of people specifically BECAUSE they are insane. Insane being a cultural function...

The amount of stuff that is said here in so little pages in astonishing. Pirsig is using his Metaphysics Of Quality to knock over many of philosophy's biggest problems: morality, free will, perception. It's wicked how intense things can get so quickly... how meanwhile it all centered back upon a woman. Lila. The struggle of the intellect versus the body. Woah.
