Hastings is an excellent author, far better than Beevor IMHO. On the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII I am reading this very readable 1972 (updated) account of Bomber Command, and how it came about - I was never into "blaming" Harris as many revisionists were; Hastings clearly shows he was the tip of an iceberg that went very deep in the psyche of the RAF.
