Need to find a parallel book because the Shireen Abu Akleh situation has brought it to the fore. I think I will try to finish this - with its inherent, acknowledged bias - then take a break though. I'm grateful for the overview. Americans don't get it in our basic or advanced education unless we're specializing. I certainly have a better understanding of US involvement and policy in the region.

This whole Boomer War on Drugs fatalism without examining the levels of drug trafficking cartel crime vs racist enforcement of MJ and other shit community "policing" in relatively conservative Quebec... Just a weird left turn for the series that's usually a little more self-aware. That 4th wall stuff was part of the cosiness for me.
