I’m struggling to care about any of these characters except for Kitay and Jiang.
Rin still a child, never grew up after the first battle against the Federation. all her decisions made out of fear and will to live. Doesn’t ever learn or grow because she’s still a child. Also, focused on logic and numbers rather than belief? (to win) opposite of a shaman? Only a vessel for the Phoenix rather than actual Shaman?

There’s a lot of dialog that just explains things, hardly any plot. Action happens off page for the most part. I like the characters so far but wish something would actually happen… they’re in a trial! Action should be happening that’s not just them sitting around trying to puzzle things out!

Man, Amethyst really turned into an annoying brat. Booooo

Typos. Shallower character interactions and connections than first book. Finding myself really having to push myself to finish this but I am enjoying the humor.

Formatting is not great and the dialog between characters has plummeted in believability and naturalness. Ugh.

Prediction: mushrooms.

Ugh I really hate how “snarky” the author tried to make the dialog. It just makes the characters sound juvenile and full of themselves.

Idk if I can continue. It’s just one sex scene after another. There are hints of plot but nothing actually happens besides a lot of sex.

Idk if I want to finish this. There is no plot. Lots of banging. Nice spice but no plot. Character development is also taking a bit long.
