I’m so far enraptured by this mysterious story (mysterious as in... where did this crazy plot come from???) of a young Black woman who is eking out a living and seeking meaning in the brutal human connections she takes for friendship and love. The language is beautiful and sometimes stop me short—so much so that I go back and reread certain passages again. Excited to see where the ending go.

Fascinating story of the entanglement of two different white people and how each of their well-intentioned liberal leanings and “pro-Black” actions are ultimately interpreted to be micro aggressions against Black people.

so far love the dry, witty tone and the wry but truthful insights into human desires, behavior, and relationships.

having just returned from Hong Kong (my family is from there) this book piqued my interest as it follows the stories of 3 different expat women making their way through the strangeness of living in a land that is foreign to them.

Went to my first book-reading ever...was afraid she would be monotone and I'd have to stifle multiple yawns...but in fact, super fun!
