Just finished chapter 3 and am gonna save the rest of this for tomorrow. I am LOVING the communication Taichi and Kohei have going on, which is something that was a bit lacking in previous volumes. I was also pleasantly surprised at Kohei setting boundaries with his ex in favour of his current relationship. That was very mature and lovely to see, even though I'm sure there's gonna be trouble ahead involving her.

Why is Greg's upper body in this illustration so freakishly long?? Like judging from where his leg emerges his hips are all the way at the bottom of the page. String bean ass proportions

I don't think Casey McQuiston knows that people outside the US exist (ironic, given the premise of this book) because the sheer volume of US-centric acronyms leaves me feeling like I'm reading a different language. Would it kill you to write some of them out sometimes?? How am I supposed to know your political and educational acronyms? Wtf is a DNC?!?!?

It feels like they've had sex a million and one times so far in this book, and I don't see the point of that if none of it is ever actually described. It's starting to get annoying, like yes, yes, either get back to the plot or show some hole, you have to pick one

Okay I looked it up and apparently the author removed hp references in newer editions. Very pleased to learn that, but still... we knew even back in 2019. I have a tweet bookmarked from December 2019 that references a post made two years before that. So. We knew.

This book is very fun to read, but the line "it would be nice if we could not throw our own marginalized people under the proverbial bus" while talking about Harry Potter is WILD, like we KNEW in 2019. We KNEW jkr was a transphobe

Anyway I'm enjoying this book more than I thought I would. I have a complicated relationship with this author, but this book I really like so far.

This reads more like a corkboard theorist's ramblings than a mystery novella. Which in a way I guess it is? But he didn't have to be that blatant about it
