All of the terrible people died in wonderfully grotesque ways.

I want everyone save for MAYBE the main character to die gruesome deaths because holy crap, the writer did an amazing job and making them all very awful people.

Immediately intrigued by the characters.

In a book where giant scorpion crabs and anthropomorphic lizard monsters are eating people left and right, it's the hyper religious Republican president that is the real terrifying horror. He's written so well, too. Very easy to hate, as any villain should.

Rampaging crab monsters, blood and gore, insane, extremely religious Republican president. It's almost as terrifying as real life.

Absolute chaos right out the gate. I love this series.

For being as bleak and oppressive this world is, everyone has crazy senses of humor.

Was wanting to read some violent, dark fantasy like Song of Ice and Fire, but knowing that series is never going to be completed in book form, I sought out the next best thing, or so I'm told.

This book is just pure horror candy.

The main character's name is Rick, and he's a writer. I have never found it easier to relate to a character in a novel in my life.

This book is so gnarly, I love it. Just nonstop gross out horror with mutant insects.
