I'm enjoying this book thoroughly. I always seem to get interrupted while I'm reading though!

I'm a big Edith Wharton fan. I don't think she's read as much today as she should be.

I've read parts of this before, but I'm starting over because I want to use it for my AP Lit kids this fall. I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

Stephen Greenblatt is my favorite Shakespearean scholar.

The description in the third section of Mr. Ramsey's need for sympathy rang more true than ever. It reminded me of a friend we have who has a similar need. Like Lily, I refuse to provide the sympathy.

The conversation between Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey at the dinner table where they don't say anything but know exactly what each other is saying is priceless.

I scrolled through some of the reviews of this book here on Goodreads and it's clear that Virginia Woolf is not to everyone's taste. That would suit her just fine, I think. She wasn't writing to a general audience but more to an audience of her peers as she saw them. Yes, she was an elitist and never assumed her writing would appeal to everyone.

So far this one just isn't working for me. That's something you'll rarely hear me say about a cozy mystery.
